Yea I have to agree that this a rare memento but I don't really like it. I think that during and after the 70's the cars started to go down. If they could of put a monstrus V-8 in it like the cars in the 50's and 60's then it would be cool.

  2. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

could you imagine the handling and wieght though?

  3. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

Big engines were hard to come by in 81. They didnt make the power they did in the 60s and gas prices were up. The Delorean would of sold better in Europe than in the US. Then after a few years they could of played around with engines and sent it to America.

why would someone want one? JUST LOOK AT IT

  5. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

every car in the world other than delorean and bricklin is normal. they have paint. you are all sheep getting ready to be raped by rednecks. my point is these are different and classic. its a beautiful shape. why is it an ugly car? its a lotus esprit without popup lights!

The first time i saw the Delorean in back to the Future when i was a kid i couldn't believe it.I thought it was a car only made for the movie. When i realized later that it was a real car i knew i had to have one.I loved the gull-wing doors,Stainless steel body and the gun-slit windows.I went on ebay and got one for 14,000 dollars. It needs work but i know it will be worth it.I get compliments of people in my neighborhood and i haven't even drove it around one time.People think the car is a lamborghini and it costs alot of money. The car is a masterpiece of the 1980's and everthing is good except for the power of the engine but it's understandable due to the oil crisis of the 1970's.Im gonna turbo charge this car and pimp it out (As if it's not already pimp enough).Another good reason to buy this car is that it is a chick magnet. If you just stand next to one chick will smile at you.The only bad things i've heard from people is from people im my high school saying that their Honda can kick my car's ass. Well i don't give a $%#K! I have the most unique, beautiful car that doesn't cost much and they have their honda with flame stickers.Well anywayz anyone that wants to have a car that is a artwork on wheels for 14,000 instead of a 200,000 dollar lamborghini this is it.

I have a question for the Delorean owners. Its about the doors, the way they open. Do you have any kind of problems opening between cars? It would seem that the way they open, they would easliy hit another parked car.

Also can anyone send pics of the interior? I want to have a look at it.

  8. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

The doors open from the middle of the car and only need about the width of a regular door to open. Which a normal car needs about 3 times the space to open.

Pics of car unfinished but you get the idea.

  9. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

too bad. the gray interior looks way better.

  10. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

Well if you were to modify the interior then Black is the best color to go with. Plus it seems to be less effected by the sun. But I do like the gray its a little dark having an all black interior.

  11. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

my instructor at college owns one and he says itz a pain in the ass when ur near Minivans and large-size trucks cuz ur completly invisible due to their blindspots. is that true? must be hell as dangerous.

  12. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

what do you mean by black is the better color when modifying?

  13. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

Black interior looks a whole lot better when you add crome and polished metal. Black dash that splits with gray would be nice though. It would of been nice to see the tann brown put into production too.

  14. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

people can do that to a d? and yeah now i know what you mean.

    have pics of that?

  15. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

you guys are a bunch of cry babies ... "wah, don't bad talk my car" i don't care when people shit talk DSMs, and i still like them, even though they are "unreliable","ugly",and "chick" cars ... or stupid import 4 bangers ... whatever you want to call them. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. and mine is that i think these cars are nothing more than a novelty item. oh yeah, and if getting chicks is the only reason you like the car then you must be some sad pathetic soul who can't get a date on his own.

  16. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

oh yeah ... and what was the deal with the wooden interior panels ( i HAVE worked on these cars ... kinda funny, one of the guys from nitrous express was dissing the car bad... oh yeah, i live right by nitrous express ... but i think nitrous sucks)

  17. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

dude. getb the F--- out of this forum. so what if it does have wood dash! i bet the other 1981 cars had that shit too. i hope nitro express has a spark. maybe the impact will make you a bit smarter, or the heat will cook that egg yoke you call a brain and raise your IQ. dont crap before you post, you loose all your intelligence.

  18. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

Many cars have used wood for interior parts. Its light strong and inexpensive. Remember that the interior is pretty much Lotus with Porches door panels. Surly you’re not going start bashing them.

Who cares if you live near nitrous express they don’t know sh*t. It’s all too common to see these Delorean "experts" that don’t know anything about this car. Know one in their right mind would take a Delorean any other place than a Delorean specialist shop because they actually know what their doing.

  19. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

When u said lotus and porsche door panels, are you talking about the design, configuration, or were they built by lotus and porsche. I don't really know that much about delorean as yall could tell

  20. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

The older corvettes (around the eightys) were faster to 100mph and 150mph. Corvette is concentrating too much on acceleration now

  21. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

You should make your interior similar to a viper. Put DMC on the drivers headrest then 12 on the other With mats with DMC-12
    or METALLICA just kidding(about METALLICA)

  22. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

The Delorean lower door panels were taken right off a Porsche I dont remember which car. The car was developed by Lotus and uses the same frame and suspension. And is why after 23 years the car still feels solid on the road.

  23. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

acceleration comes in handy more now. id rather pull on to the freeway faster than get in a wreck at 300mph.

  24. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

oh, and firestarter. thanks for the offer a while back for the D test drive/ride, but i cant make it. lots of familystuff at the moment.

  25. Re: Why the heck would you want one???????????????

Because 1 its Stainless steel;meaning every thing inside will be gone far before the body starts to deteriorate, 2 its got awesome "gul wing" doors; like a lambo, 3 they are classic; made even more so by one being in a movie, and 4 they look awesome. Lower budget upgrades might include EFI if it doesen't already have it, Power Chip, and HEADERS. A superchager would do nice to but much more pricy.
