each to their own....but i have beat alot of cars i shouldnt have with my conquest(same as a starion)... mine is quite modified and has some weight reduction. Ive spent maybe 13,000 on the whole project including purchase price(tahts bang for the buck) and the engine is making well over 300 horsepower out of those 155 cubic inches.

and the comment of "fastest car of its day" well that is true when it comes to any car that was with in 5-10k of its price tag. And its true today when the wrx's and evos cant keep up with out at least 5K in addition to their 25000+ sticker price.

mid 12's are with in easy reach with these cars when they are prepped correctly.Ive got friends that not only street drive their mid 12 second car they drive to tracks all over the usa (sometimes 12-15 hours away)and drive it home.

mitsu bottled these cars up from the fatory 2" exhaust, tiny turbos, TBI instead of the MPI the non-turbo australian magnas got and enuf emissions to rob over 100 horsepower.add the MPI and the skies the limit(400 hp becomes almost easy)

You guys who come in here and talk trash about a car you've never even driven...........you should be shot. how are you going to compare something you know nothing about? By the way, I happen to own an 04 Focus with MT, and there's no way in HELL it would ever beat a Starquest..........stop smoking crack and rolling in your G-ride, caddyboy. Know what you're talking about before you're stupid enough to make comments that label you an idiot, the way you have managed to do.

mmmmmmmkay...its just that im not sure how an early 80's car (again, stock for stock - im not saying great things can't happen with some mods to either car) with 145bhp and a tad bit more weight than a focus would be ahead of it. maybe because it's RWD you can induce some throttle steer, but the focus already handles pretty tightly, and i doubt that a factory stock performance suspension from that era would be much better than one from today.

just speaking from experience. i have a '68 mustang, and i freely admit that it has pretty crappy handling. this is why i'm building it for more brute power and speed than finesse or handling. so perhaps there has been progress in the handling department from 36 years ago, or even 20+ years ago, no?
