The RC concepts are the first step towards a Peugeot two-seater supercar. The RC Spade and RC Diamond are the first production worthy concepts peugeot have released in the last couple years. The two cars are virtually identical, except for the engines, one of which is diesel.

Empahsis during design was on lightweight construction. This is evident from the cabon fibre monocoque and ceramic disk brakes. The lightweight construction is neccessary with the modest 170 HP fed from the 2 liter engine.

The powertrain is rather unusual. The small inline-4 engine sits transversly directly overtop the rear axle. While this eliminates the need for a driveshaft, weight distribution is the first item which Peugeot have not addressed.

The RC concepts are a welcome change from the usual, unusual concepts Peugeot have been pushing. A step towards production worthy concepts may see the Peugeot line become more dynamic to suit the needs of the sports-car market.
