2010 Quail

The Quail is Monterey’s most exclusive event. It’s always sold out well in advance and becomes the hottest ticket of the entire Monterey Car Week. More than the cars, it’s the Peninsula Hotel’s hospitality that creates an atmosphere unlike any other show.

This year, the best display of Shelby Mustangs was assembled and it included everything from the very first GT350 prototype up to the new 2011 Shelby. Some of the highlights included the one-of GT500 Super Snake and several of the GT350Rs which ran the b-modified category in SCCA racing.

Best of Show went to a stunning Delahaye 135 Competition which was among several other deserving cars in the pre-war class. Other possibilities included two of the world’s best Packards from Robert Lee, a Bugatti Aravis from the Mullin museum and several Alfa Romeos with competition bodywork.

One of of the top stories from the Quail was the public unveiling of the Bugatti Super Sports before it hit Laguna Seca and Pebble Beach. Richard Owen and Dirk de Jager photographed it extensively for our feature galleries of the event. See Gallery 1 | Gallery 2Gallery 3 | Gallery 4Gallery 5Gallery 6
