2010 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Coupe Heads to Auction

One of only 76 U.S. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 coupes

The Bugatti Veyronโ€™s debut in 2005 redefined the supercar world. The project began in 1998 after Volkswagen acquired Bugatti. Giorgetto Giugiaro of ItalDesign created the EB118 concept, featuring all-wheel drive and an experimental W18 engine. Over the following years, various prototypes appeared before the design was finalized in 2000 as the Veyron EB 16.4.

Named after Bugatti racer Pierre Veyron, it featured a 16-cylinder, four-turbo engine and underwent extensive reengineeringโ€”95% of its components were redesigned before production began. The Veyronโ€™s 8.0-liter W16, essentially two 4.0-liter V8s sharing one crankcase, delivered 987 hp and 922 lb-ft of torque, eclipsing Formula 1 performance figures.

Weighing 1,888 kg, it achieved an extraordinary 523 horsepower per ton. Power was transmitted through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a permanent all-wheel-drive system. Custom Michelin run-flat tires enabled the car to surpass the 250 mph targetโ€”Top Gearโ€™s James May even reached 253 mph.

Bugatti built only 252 examples of the Veyron 16.4 Coupe during its ten-year production run, making it one of the rarest and most celebrated performance cars of the modern era. Its blend of groundbreaking engineering, limited numbers, and cultural significance has cemented its status as a modern classic. Just 76 were produced for the U.S. market, and well-documented cars rarely surface for sale.

One such example will cross the block at Broad Arrow Auctionsโ€™ Las Vegas event on October 31, with an estimated value of up to $1.8 million. Finished in two-tone Black and Blue over a Black leather interior, the car has covered 6,515 miles and remains in excellent condition. Delivered new to a Silicon Valley collector in 2009, it was maintained by Silicon Valley Auto Group and Luxury Cars Los Gatos, and received major services, including a radiator replacement in 2014.

Subsequent owners in Florida and California continued its meticulous upkeep through Prestige Imports and Bugatti Beverly Hills, where it was serviced as recently as August 2025. With its consistent maintenance history and recent servicing, the next owner will be eligible for Bugattiโ€™s coveted Passeport Tranquillitรฉ extended warranty, ensuring continued reliability and official factory support.
