VIDEO: Ferrari 849 Testarossa Track Test

Sport Auto’s test team pushes the Ferrari 849 Testarossa hard on track

Sport Auto’s test team, led by Christian Gebhardt and Uwe Sener, pushes the Ferrari 849 Testarossa hard on track, showcasing its blend of heritage styling and cutting-edge performance. Inspired by classic Testarossa and 512 race cars, especially in Assetto Fiorano trim, the car benefits from major aerodynamic upgrades that generate up to 415 kg of downforce.

Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 paired with three electric motors, producing a staggering 1,050 hp and instant response with no turbo lag. On Michelin Cup 2 tires, the 849 feels light, razor-sharp, and highly communicative, delivering both understeer at the limit and controllable oversteer with throttle input. Brake-by-wire provides strong, precise stopping power, though it takes some acclimation.

Off the track, the road version remains engaging, with adaptive suspension, hybrid driving modes, and improved comfort, though the electric-only sound is less inspiring. Overall, the 849 Testarossa stands out as an intensely emotional and technically impressive supercar, thrilling on both circuit and street.
