A quarter-mile showdown pitting raging V10 and V12 Lamborghinis against cutting-edge electric rivals set the stage for a dramatic series of drag races. Hosted by Matt Watson from carwow, the event featured everything from a surprisingly potent Smart #5 Brabus EV to flagship supercars like the Lamborghini Huracán Performante and Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.
The opening battles hinted at an upset. Despite giving away prestige and price, the all-electric Smart delivered relentless acceleration, even pressuring the Huracán—though traction issues and a speed limiter kept things close. Rolling races exposed the EV’s instant torque advantage, while braking tests revealed the challenges of grip and tire temperature on damp tarmac.
As the competition escalated, the SVJ entered with thunderous V12 drama but struggled to consistently deploy its power. In contrast, the EVs proved brutally effective off the line. The arrival of the Tesla Model S Plaid changed everything. Packing over 1,000 horsepower, it demolished rivals—even while carrying extra passengers—highlighting the raw, repeatable performance of electric power.
The final showdown against the hybrid Lamborghini Revuelto was the closest yet. While the Lamborghini fought back with explosive launches, the Tesla’s consistency ultimately prevailed. In the end, the results underscored a new reality: while Lamborghinis deliver unmatched theater and sound, electric cars dominate the drag strip with ruthless efficiency.
