A wolf in sheep’s clothing from BRABUS, the E63 S based 900

A Mercedes E-class might not be the most awe-inspiring car on the road, but there are people out there that don’t really want to attract too much attention to themselves, but still love having a high-performance car, albeit a four-door sedan model for practicality, and for that kind of customer Mercedes-AMG created the E63 S 4MATIC+, their most powerful E-class available to the public, built around a 4.0-liter, eight-cylinder engine that delivers 612 hp straight from the factory, but we wouldn’t be talking about BRABUS if this high-end manufacturer from Bottrop in Germany didn’t bring a lot more power to the table. A while ago we already published an article on the BRABUS 800 based on the E-Class, a model in which they increased the power output to 800 hp at 6,600 rpm, and with 1,000 Nm of torque at as low as 3,600 rpm, note you can order a Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+ in either sedan or station wagon, the BRABUS 800 was one of the most powerful sedans/station wagons in the world when we wrote that article … but things have changed …

We present the BRABUS 900 based on the Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4MATIC+ when finished in black like we usually see from BRABUS, this really is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, this brute comes with 900 hp, and it still looks a lot like a German taxi in the end, but looks are deceiving in this case, the BRABUS 900 E-class is a breed apart, the base 4-Liter engine just couldn’t be brought up to 900 hp so BRABUS bored out the original 8-cylinder engine block to 84 mm (3.3 in), fitted larger pistons, installed a precision-balanced billet crankshaft and eight special piston rods lengthen the stroke to 100 millimeters (3.9 in), and more importantly, the company engine shop equipped with hi-tech machinery enables the company to build these engines at the BRABUS Manufaktur in Bottrop

But that wasn’t enough for BRABUS, they also developed a more efficient turbocharging system for the E-class 900, BRABUS went with a pair of bespoke, high-performance turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and special core assembly featuring reinforced axial bearings, the result is a maximum boost of 1.4 bar, thanks to the BRABUS BoostExtra adapters, the engine makes a beautiful ‘blow-off’ noise when the driver lifts his (or her) foot off the accelerator pedal. And while we’re on the interior, if you don’t really like the factory original upholstery, BRABUS has an entire team of artisans that can create a completely bespoke interior just for you, and while the demo car on these photos doesn’t show any interior, you can rest assured whatever you prefer for the interior, it can be done in Bottrop.

Back to the outside now, with a stunning exhaust system fitted by BRABUS on their latest 900 model, starting with large 75mm (3 in) downpipes, metal catalysts, and special particulate filters that are fitted onto a high-performance, stainless steel exhaust system to minimize back pressure, and just in case you have to leave the house in the early hours of the day, or you return late at night, this BRABUS exhaust comes with controllable ‘butterfly valves’ so you can turn down the volume from that large 4.5-liter V8 engine when needed, but you can still enjoy the glorious symphony when you want to wake up the neighbors…

The BRABUS ROCKET 900 V8 increased-displacement engine offers very impressive performance figures from underneath her custom, red-tinted carbon fiber engine cover under the hood, this twin-turbocharged V8 produces a peak output of 662 kW / 900 hp (888  bhp) at a low 6,200 rpm, but the peak torque is possibly even more impressive with a massive 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft) available as low as 2,900 rpm, still, BRABUS wanted to protect the drive line a little, so they electronically limited the torque in normal conditions to 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft), which isn’t too shabby either.

If you think the factory standard Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4MATIC+ is a fast car, think again, this BRABUS 900 can reach 100 km/h from standstill in just 2.8 seconds, after a mere 9.7 seconds you’ll be doing 200 km/h (124 mph) while a staggering 300 km/h (186 mph) is reached after no longer than 23.9 seconds … to keep the tires from shredding themselves, the top speed of this wolf in sheep’s clothing has been electronically limited to 330 km/h or 205 mph, that is supercar territory, while you drive a four-door, four-seater sedan that looks like a plain family car … and you can even get it in an Estate model.

To keep all this power stable at those speeds, BRABUS created a new aerodynamic package for this car, a relatively subtle kit that doesn’t scream for attention, and BRABUS clients actually like that approach, keep in mind all parts are available in clear carbon fiber, either satin or glossy finish, and we start at the front with a new bumper add-on that fits underneath the Mercedes-AMG original unit, complete with vertical uprights on either side for stability at high speeds, add the carbon fiber intakes for the side scoops and the overall look of the front is a lot more aggressive … something that is further emphasized by the BRABUS grille higher up, complete with carbon fiber intakes on either side of the stylish ‘B’ in the center.

And the BRABUS touch continues at the rear of this black ROCKET 900 with a subtle lip spoiler on the trunk that generates additional rear-axle downforce at high speeds, while clear carbon fiber also adorns the rear diffuser that completely replaces the factory original part of the rear fascia, with dual cutouts at either end to wrap around the new BRABUS exhaust tips that come with a special feature, carbon titanium exhaust tips to complete the look and feel of this super sedan.

We all know that a car like this needs an appropriate set of wheels to really make a difference, so BRABUS fits 21-inch forged wheels, on the BRABUS 900 pictured here we find a set of the famous BRABUS Monoblock “PLATINUM EDITION” Z forged rims, naturally finished in their color-coded SIGNATURE BLACK, with a delicate ten-spoke design, these amazing wheels combine low weight with maximum strength, on the front axle we see 9Jx21 wheels with 265/30 ZR 21 ContiSportContact 6 tires while even wider 10.5Jx21 rims with 305/25 ZR 21 tires are fitted to the rear axle.

This 2022 edition of the BRABUS 900 based on the Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4MATIC+ can be ordered as a complete car straight from BRABUS in Germany, or you can have the factory original V8 you own converted into a BRABUS 900, whichever you prefer, and what’s even better, you don’t have to go all the way straight from the start, BRABUS offers their conversions in stages, so you save up in-between, but to get you even more interested, let’s take a look at some more detail shots of this beautiful brute:
