The Alba AR5 was introduced at the 1984 Daytona Finale 3 Hours in preparation for a full season in the IMSA GTP Championship.

Whitehall Rocketsports, Joe Varde Racing, Momo Corse and Truesports fielded the AR5 in 1985 and 1986 but the model failed the reach the podium against an armada of Porsche 962s.
