Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

VTEC stands for Variable valve Timeing and Electronic lift Controll
Basically the VTEC combines 2 engines in one, a road engine and racing engine.
Low displacement naturally aspirated Racing engines use high rpm to generate horsepower. They require different oxygen and fuel ratios because the engine are constantly running at high rpm. It needs this for both power and reliablitly. Road cars need different ratios because they drive around in the low rpm range.
Most VTECs switch on at around 5500rpm. When this happends all the cams are opened and fuel and air ratios are changed for optimum performance at high rpm range.
Honda prefer to generate horsepower through natural aspiration and they developed the VTEC to make their cars driveable on the road
Thats how the S2000 can make [email protected] from a mere 2litre Inline4.
Thats basically how it works without getting too technical

"hahhahahaha he laughs b/c there is a 4 cylinder .. hey i haven't seen one amercican car have 200 hp n/a like japanese car can.. lets see honda s2000 honda accord. rsx prelude all 4 cylinders... i guess your proud of those gay cavaliers... and plus american cars are only fast in a straight line ... "

-Good logic, so would you rather have a 200 Hp/L engine that is 1L or a crappy LS1 in your car?? Probably the one with less power so that the torque doesn't shift the weight of the car to the rear wheels and reduce traction right? Besides, even though America has one the 24 hours of LeMans more times than Japanese cars, the Amercans must build slow, terrible handling cars.

"actually they wouldn't beat the z06 which also cost less then the nsx. "

-This speaks for itself.

"I will agree with you about the good handling of the S7, GT-40, and the Z06 but the normal vettes and the cobra are nothing special in the handling department."

-The normal vette will handle almost as well as the Z06 and the Cobra is an exceptional handler.

"Did you know that the FWD cars have more advanced technology than the RWD, they're more modern and they're more difficult to make them "

-Did you know that in almost every form of racing the cars run rear wheel or AWD? It must be because race cars are less technicly advanced. I know Formula 1 uses basic technolgy. The only reason cars use FWD is because the lack of tunnel running through the car gives more interior room. Compact cars with FWD probably have more interior room than the midsize RWD of old. That is why family sedans have all changed FWD while sports cars, not designed with roomy interiors in mind, have remained rear wheel drive. Heres a physics lesson. When you accelerate quicly the inertia acting on the car will shift the weight of the car towards the rear. This will put more weight on the rear wheels. This gives a RWD car more traction while robbing a FWD. Besides who wants torque steer anyways?

3. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

hahahaha this is not the fastest fwd car in the world -.- have you heard of the mazda rx7???

fukk honda's

4. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

nevermind rx7 rwd

5. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

Did you know that its never going to preform as well as RWD? So for Performance reasons its a big waste of time. Also they have more technology to overcome FWD performance drawbacks such as torque steer and axel hopping.

Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

Actually 3 stage vtec combines 3 camshafts into one and nothing else. Also the most aggressive cam doesnt come on untill 6k in b-series motors.

And no the S2000 doesnt make 184.6kw (240hp) becuse it revs to 8300rpms. Its a combination of high revs and having its peak torque occur that high (AKA when the most aggressive cam lobe is used a 6k)

Funny that the guy who pisses on VTEC for his avitar knows it better than people who use it and praise it.

yea umm volvo make a faster front wheel drive car. look at the 850r and the s70 t-5. both 6 second cars.

8. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

um..the SRT-4 will kick it's ASS!!!!!!!

9. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

Nothing like having all of your torque close to redline.

10. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

Yes my point exactly, so many people will argue to their deaths that theres nothing wrong with having all the torque near the red line, but any one being realistic will realize that this going to create some drawbacks.

You idiot, yes, we've all heard of a Mazda RX-7, and it's NOT FWD, it's RWD, and you claim you own one, egads, arrogant Noobs are the worst members on these forums.

oops, saw that you corrected yourself, oh well, that doesn't change the fact that you're an idiot, I bet you think the RX-7 is a better race car than the NSX too don't you.

13. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

did you know that the fastest japanese drag car is an rx7 ??

14. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

did you know there's an Rx-7 Forum on this site? No kidding there is. The people in there might actually care about what you have to say.

15. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

Wow, and the NSX is a superior track car, who cares about Drag racing, yes, there are some VERY fast RX-7's, but Drag racing is almost as pathetic as NASCAR.

16. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

I wouldn't go so far as to say NASCAR is pathetic. I would say it is more of a 'collect te road kill off of the track at the end of the race and eat it for dinner' type thing. However, what they do with the cars considering the restrictions is quite amazing. In fact, they do actually run road courses.

And yes, the NSX is a superior track car.

17. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

Yeah i'm not much of a nascar fan either but their engines are quite impressive. Upwards of 11,000rpms out of a pushrod 350ci, now that is well balanced engine.

18. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

LOL, yeah, I find it kind of monotonous though. IMHO only the last 3 laps are truly worth watching (and the first three, as that's when most of the hardcore crashes occur).

What kind of restrictions do they face? Excuse me for being ignorant, but I never really knew what kind of restrictions they have.

Yeah, I know they do run road courses from time to time, those aren't so bad, but in somehow it's just not as exciting as watching Grand Touring cars do it.

"LOL, yeah, I find it kind of monotonous though. IMHO only the last 3 laps are truly worth watching (and the first three, as that's when most of the hardcore crashes occur)."

-I don't find it monotonous because I never watch it. I respect what they do, but I can't stand it.

"What kind of restrictions do they face? Excuse me for being ignorant, but I never really knew what kind of restrictions they have."

-I am not 100% sure but I believe than can have no bigger than a 350 Na engine. It has to be carbed and basicly running technology from the sixties. Iron block and so on... Yet they rev up to almost 9000 RPM. Not too bad. They also have to run restrictor plates because they were running way too fast for even the 'super speedways' (read: large ovals) and so they put no aerodynic parts and extra weight on to keep the cars realativly slow compared to what they could be running.

"Yeah, I know they do run road courses from time to time, those aren't so bad, but in somehow it's just not as exciting as watching Grand Touring cars do it. "

-I agree 500%. Actually I think Ron Fellows (C5-R driver from Mississauga Ontario, my home town) drives the street courses becuase the oval drivers are not so good and the teams want to win.

srt-4

21. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

I still don't understand. Why would they make the Neon fast?

22. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

And I dun't understand why there are no limited-slip differential or any other electronic device like stability control for it since it has so much torque. It is so hard to drive.

23. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

The neon has no LSD? That is stupid. It is a very good attempt at making a front wheel drive (RWD is so much more fun) sports car. Yet there are so many short comings. Hopefully Dodge will clean it up in the coming years. I guess when it starts dusting the competition people will begin to take it more seriously, but getting rid of that spoiler wouldn't hurt either.

24. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

It may need the spoiler since its top speed is quite high! :p

25. Re: Fastest Front wheel drive car in the world!

99% of Spoilers are cosmetic. Some may technicaly provide downforce but it is minimal.
