    indeed ...
think about how much performance has been improving for the last 10 years or so... now this car happens to be 70 years old, back then Cadillac was standard of the world, they made cars that would later become legends,... its 0-60 time is well above most of the American cars that were available when it was introduced.<!-- Signature -->

Just Remember, a Nissan Maxima had only 190hp 10 years ago(i think)
    the 5.0 Mustang had 220hp,
(now it has a smaller motar and makes ,more)
(but of coarce if u fix up a 5.0 it would be a great racr as they are)
The MAxima now has about 60 more hp, and incresed .5 liters, wait, wat am i saying, iam just syaing, If these cars had only that many ponies 10 years ago, ammagine wat a car had 70 years ago, get wat iam saying?

A V-16!?!?!? Cadillacs were almost as overdone then as they are now. What a waste of time. Get a Lincoln

This is to Porsche Turbo. You are as stupid as they come. Honestly, you need a sock in the nuts. This car weighed 7000 pounds, almost as much as your mom, and was made 70 years ago. I don't think you have any idea what 70 years of technology development has done for the automobile. This car was not made for speed, but class. It was a monster on the road, and the emphasis in making this car was not to see how quick it could get from 0-60mph, but to make a statement of elegance when you rolled into town. Think before you speak you retard. Your posting was one of the, if not the stupidest posting on this site.

I'd like to know what kind of import in that time could keep up with this hog on in a race. Hell, Japan had little knowledge of cars at the time let alone manufacturing them. And as for Euros, the only one that even came close to this car was the Buggati and 80% of Americans couldn't afford them.<!-- Signature -->

I have to agree with this. some of you peopel do make stupid comments about cars. all you freaking american car hating people, just get over yourselfs. unlike you, i at least have the desensy to at least respect cars that arent american made. i love american cars to death and believe you should show them some respect instead of dissing them.

  13. Re: 0-60 in 24 SECONDS..YEP ITS AMERICAN

    To TPANCe 516:

I agree with you but on one thing. This Caddy wasn't the fastest of it's days. I believe that was the Duesenberg hitting 140 mph. I do believe altough this Caddy was the only car powered by a V-16.

To the ignorant little f*ck who started this tread:

You are a dumbass. How could you say this car sucks. Back in those days getting 164 horsepower from a V-16 was pretty respectable. As for the 0-60, isn't that a bit normal when the car ways almost 3 tons?? If you can't appreciate this car how the hell can you appreciate today's cars. Not a single car is perfect. Don't forget, if we never had these cars, we wouldn't have the cars we have today. Think about it. It is because of what constructors learned in the past they are able today of squeezing 300-400 horspower out of fourbangers. And don't say this isn't true, because it has been done. Look around the forums a bit and you will find some cars with these engines.
So just think twice before you make a stupid topic and make a fool out of yourself.

  14. 0-60 in 24 SECONDS..YEP ITS AMERICAN

I will admit, GM (pardons to Firebird, SSR, Monte Carlo, Grand Am, Camaro, CTS, GMC Trucks/SUVS and Chevy Trucks/SUVS) has the most dated and pathetic lineup of cars to date. Hey, but back in the 30's, GM rocked! Still, a 1959 Austin Mini Minor could not only out-accelerate, but out-courner (many of today's vehicles, even!), out-brake(even without ABS, it still whoops some cars today!), and hust plain out-race the Phaeton. Speaking of the very name P h a e t o n, wasn't that a Chrysler concept a few years back, and VW's newest and first full-size sedan?<!-- Signature -->

HEy HEy Hey Hey Hey Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#@$Hole this Caddy was not made to go fast sucker. In the 30's in the USA, people cared about looks.<!-- Signature -->

  17. Re: 0-60 in 24 SECONDS!?!?

Back then 16 secs of 0-60 was fast.

  18. Re: 0-60 in 24 SECONDS!?!?

it might have been the fastest in 1930's

dont be kidding. this car is killer. besides, it would run over something like a skyline and leave little pieces of plastic all over the place. this car knows not what polyethylene plastic is!! much less r1ce! >=)~ but that's time difference for ya<!-- Signature -->

  22. Re: 0-60 in 24 SECONDS!?!?

I love the lines of this car I wish I could get my hands on one. does any one know how much one of these would run you today.<!-- Signature -->

  23. Re: 0-60 in 24 SECONDS!?!?

You're easily looking into the hundreds, also, most of these old cars had such a low redline. W/o presision machining that modern cars get, it would destroy itself above what, I think its 3500?<!-- Signature -->

  24. Old engines...

have no hp especialy in the 1930s.

  25. Re: Old engines...

because the compression ratio was way low around 6 or 7 to 1
and the cam was there just to open and close the valves. Wild cam grinds were not introduced yet. Low compression is mainly for forced induction engines, well it seems engineers were not aware of this yet or did not have the tools neccesary to make a higher compression piston. Most old engines do suck but in regards to reliability nothing comes close to the old inline 6.
