Re: so many horses... why isnt it any faster then it is??

  1. seriously who the hell cares about 248 or 260 mph. you wont ever go that fast on the street. more important is acceleration and handling. if a car accelerates in 0-60 in 3 seconds and has awesome handling it is a lot more fun for the street cuz u can use its speed. u wont use 200 somethin MPH anyways

  2. Why the hell would you call the Bugatti shit? It's a gorgeously designed car which employs things never seen on a road car before such as a 7 speed transmission. Plus it has full underbody aerodynamic work and a meticulously massaged body designed to give effective downforce with as little drag as possible. That's probably why it is faster than the Lotec. It boils down to money really. Bugatti, now part of the VW empire, has the resources necessary to do incredible things with the Bugatti while Lotec has to, i assume, design, build, and refine a car on a budget that is millions below that of Bugatti.

1st off, yes supercars need downforce 2 go round corners fast, what i said was they dont need it to go down straightaways fast. 2nd of all, the reason dragsters lift their front wheels is due to a mechanical imbalance, not an aerodynamic flaw, if a dragster was put in a vacuum, with no gravity, and then the engine engaged (if that was possible in a vacuum) the wheels would go clockwise (if u were on the cars right hand side) BUT, the body of the car would start to move aswell, it would rotate around the rear axle, ANTI-CLOCKWISE, to try and reach equilibrium, this also happens in real life, just not 2 such a large extent, the front of the car lifts up to counteract the wheels spinning round.

Ive watched over 150 f1 races and over 100 indycar races and have NEVER seen a car 'take off'....ive seen cars run into the back of ppl and THEN take off (R.I.P. jeff krosnof) and ive seen the infamous mercedes CLR at le mans in 1999, but that flipped because it went over the brow of a hill to quickly, forcing excessive air underneath, but my point stands, on a flat road, u need zero pounds of downforce to keep a car on the ground, u could happily cruise along at the speed of light (well, not quite) without flipping

and as for this '1 off' concept car, i still think its a 1:1 scale plastic model of a real one, look at the windows, theyre blacked out because the car has no interior

at 250mph with wrong aerodynamics, lift WILL occur and it doesn't take much to make the car unstable, theres a video you can download of a RX-7 going 215mph, makes barely enough lift to put up the front tires, looses traction and goes flying for about a mile, literally. the reason F1 cars never fly is because they have INSANE amounts of downforce, their Cd is horrible, i don't know the exact # but probably .60 or higher. F1 cars have relatively low top speeds given their profile and horsepower, but they make enough downforce that they can pull 3g's around turns.

any car going that fast will need downforce to be stable and keep the wheels on the ground, enough to counter any lift that may happen.

  5. krazyjl, u sound like u know your stuff, but the most important part of the post u quoted was "u need zero pounds of downforce to keep a car on the ground"

there is a very defined difference between saying 'zero downforce' and 'no downforce'....they mean entirely different things

ZERO downforce means the car is perfectly balanced at any speed and wont take off (which is what i said)

NO downforce means the car must have the opposite of downforce, lift, like what u said and it WILL take off at high speed

    has that cleared everything up?

  6. OK LETS GET SOMETHING STRAIGHT HERE, I'VE GONE 147 ON AN AUDI AND I LEMME TELL U FEELS LIKE SOMEONE IS KICKIN U TO UR SEAT, ANYTHING OVER 160 MPH'S WHICH IM GONNA TRY AS SOON AS I DO SOME MODS TO MY RIDE, IS MORE THAN ENOUGH, THIS CAR IS NICE, THE TOP SPEED IS EXCELLENT AND THE ACCELERATION I ADMIT IS A LITTLE SLOWER THAN WHAT U WOULD EXPECT, BUT KEEP IN MIND THAT THESE IDIOTS WHO DESIGNED THIS LEFT OUT ON OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF A TRUE SUPERCAR AND SOMETHING NONE OF U EVER MENTIONED, HOW ABOUT A SIX-SPEED TRANSMISSION, THINK IT WOULD HELP?

  7. maybe because of the downforce and the aerodynamics i don't have ay clue.

  8. snyper is dead right on that.....the wind drag increases exponentially with speed.....even if there is a slight increase in Cd, the top speed decreases drastically.....

  9. Most likely, it's just the weight of the engine. I'm just amazed that it can go as fast as it does on only five gears. (sorry 'bout the image - first time on a drawing program. It's pretty good for my first time, right?)

  10. this car could go 248mph on 1 gear (its acceleration would be rubbish, but it could still do it) so the fact that it "only" has 5 gears is irrelevant, as for the weight of the engine, weight has no effect whatsoever on top speed

  11. how much of that hp is actually hitting the street? that's y it's slow... no power to the ground, no speed... and with THAT much power (hp and tourque), it probably just slips at first acceleration... and with only 5 gears... u can bet your ass it wont go super-fast, cuz after a while, u'll just be running out of RPMs, and evnetually with the pedal to the metal, u'll blow something

  12. 400kph is pretty damn fast... but if wanted to go faster, just take the regulating chip off.... simple. The speed is controlled by the chip, diconnect it (which voids the warranty of the whole car), and u can hit probably about 550kph

  13. oh what the hell r u talking about?...u get that out of some comic uve been reading??

regulating chip?...u just made that up, theres no such chip on this car, if u mean a speed restrictor like the ones merc and BMW use to limit their cars to 155mph, then ok, but this car doesnt have 1, the only reason this car does 'only' 400km/h is because at that speed, power=drag so resultant force =zero there4 acceleration stops hence terminal velocity is reached

do u have any idea how fast 550km/h is?...342mph from just 1334hp, r u mad?...theres aircraft that dont do that speed, think about what ur saying in future

  14. U think 400 is not enough????

    U R Crazy!

ch1c4n3, I agree with you on everything. Check out this page, the source seems reliable. Claims top speed to be around 420 kph.

    (check out the video, DAMN!)
Street-version of the car is now available, and i costs no less than 2.000.000 DEM, about 866.287,35 USD.

  16. It's not faster for 2 reasons:
    Aerodynamics
5 speed gearbox and may be the gears ratio also.

  17. It looks sweat its got a huge ass engin but the spead sucks

  18. I say just give it a bigger gear box with some fixed ratios.....say bout 7 or 6 gears with some fixed ratios and you'll be well over 250 maybe into the 300 range but ya never know until you try it

  19. I dont know why you guys are complaning when you on a rollercoaster you get the exitment and great fun. But the average roller coaster is about 60 mph. so you are going that fast and having a godd time why the hell would you need to go like 250 for. By the way once you get there wouldnt the tank be at half full. Then you ahve to get more because of the huge number of hp. It would cost alot to fill this thing up.

  20. HAVE ANY OF U HEARD OF GEAR RATIOS??????? THIS CAR COULD BE DESIGNED FOR BETTER HANDLING AND LESS SPEED(BTW CARS DONT GO MUSH FASTER THAN 400 MPH)

  21. I agree with ch1c4n3 on what he is saying. If a car creats lift in the down direction, and continues unchanged in a straight line, then it will never lift off the ground. The reason some cars fly, is because hey hit a bump, which changes the direction of airflow, and bumps the lift to positive for a very short time (less then a second), which can lift a car. As the car lifts, the angle of attack (the angle between the average chord on the car and the oncomming air) is momentarily positive, therefore it flys. The reason that supercars make high ammounts of downforce, is to counter this proneness to jump when a bump is hit. There was a race built (I can't remember the name) that used a pedal to control downforce. It would alter the angles of the two wings to decrease downforce on straights, and then increases the downforce for the best cornering.

In a couple of days/weeks we'll have the first action videos of this car at www.carpassion.com . The responsible engineering company doing the engine development is based in the same building as my office.

And believe me, it is wrong to say that the car is already on the street. It is still in the development process.

    So stay tuned.

    regards,
    Roland

  23. Add a six speed and this thing might just be up there with the SledgeHammer.

  24. it isnt faster, because the horse power does not make the speed of the car but it contributes to the torque. you have no idea what u are talking about, get off this site

  25. It might need to have its control arms need to be adjusted, so that more rubber meets the ground. That 0-60 is horrible compared with the Lotec C1000, which also has a Twin Turbo engine, but a V-8 one, while the Sirius have a Twin Turbo V-12, which means it can't necessarily be turbo lag. It may be the amount of torque it has, or even its gearing. I guess most people would prefer top speed over acceleration, but they both have to be balanced and equal. The Sirius might need a vacuum or suction in the front air dam to keep it as low to the ground as possible to reduce lift.
