1929 Škoda 860
Released at the Prague auto salon, the 860 represented the top model of the Škoda brand from 1929 to 1933. It was produced by the company as a large chassis that could accept a large variety of bodywork.
The 860 was named after its engine having 8 cylinders and 60 bhp. It was Škoda's first eight cylinder engine and was made from two blocks that arranged the cylinders in a 4X2 arrangement. This produced around 60 bhp which was good for the large limousines that were typically fitted to the chassis. These usually feature lavish and large interiors at a cost of 127 000 CZK.
About 100 examples of 860 were made before being replaced by the 850. Škoda tradion lists that roughly 49-52 are accounted for today. Of these, only four were made with a large, 4-seater cabriolet bodywork that sold for 140 000 CZK. One of these is currently in the Škoda Auto Museum at Mladá Boleslav.
