The Koenigsegg Regera represents one of the most technologically advanced hypercars ever created, blending extreme performance with groundbreaking hybrid engineering. Limited to just 80 examples produced between 2016 and 2020, this highly exclusive model is expected to achieve between $2.8 million and $3.4 million USD when it crosses the block at RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction next month.
Founded by visionary entrepreneur Christian von Koenigsegg, the Swedish manufacturer built its reputation by redefining automotive performance through relentless innovation. The Regera continues that legacy as the brand’s first hybrid hypercar, combining advanced electrification with the unmistakable character of a twin-turbocharged V8.
At the heart of the Regera is a revolutionary powertrain centered around Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD), which eliminates the need for a conventional multi-speed transmission. Instead, a bespoke HydraCoup hydraulic coupling seamlessly transfers power from the 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and three axial-flux electric motors to the rear wheels.
Together, the system generates more than 1,500 horsepower and approximately 1,475 lb-ft of torque, enabling astonishing acceleration while maintaining remarkable efficiency. Power is supported by an 800-volt battery pack utilizing Formula 1-inspired cell technology capable of rapid charging and discharging.
Beyond its engineering, the Regera showcases Koenigsegg’s signature carbon-fiber construction. Its lightweight monocoque chassis allows for a removable roof panel without sacrificing rigidity, while the distinctive dihedral synchro-helix doors enhance accessibility in confined spaces.
This example is finished in striking blue-tinted exposed carbon fiber with elegant platinum accents, complemented by the optional Ghost Package, which adds functional aerodynamic enhancements. The cabin features a refined white leather interior with contrast stitching, balancing luxury with the car’s extreme performance credentials.
Delivered new to its sole owner in Mexico City in January 2021 through Koenigsegg’s official German dealer, Esser Automotive, the hypercar has remained carefully maintained between Mexico City and Miami. Scheduled servicing was completed in January 2024, and the odometer displayed just 2,123 kilometers (approximately 1,319 miles) at the time of cataloguing.
With its single-owner provenance, exceptionally low mileage, and one of the most sophisticated hybrid drivetrains ever fitted to a production automobile, this 2020 Koenigsegg Regera stands among the most desirable modern hypercars to reach the collector market.
