The Gallardo’s original designer, Fabrizio Giugiaro, returns to his iconic supercar with a ground-up redesign limited to just 25 examples.
CAVËN Atelier has unveiled HOMMAGE 26, an extensively reimagined Lamborghini Gallardo created by Fabrizio Giugiaro, the designer behind the original supercar. Revealed October 31 at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, the project launches the CAVËN Atelier Designer Series with production limited to just 25 cars. CURATED will represent the brand in the United States.
Nearly three decades after conceiving the Gallardo at Italdesign in 1998, Giugiaro has revisited his design through his studio, GFG Style. The result retains the spirit of the original while introducing modern materials, updated technology and a more contemporary interpretation of the Italian supercar.
A Gallardo reimagined from the ground up
HOMMAGE 26 follows CAVËN Atelier’s philosophy of design authorship, bringing original designers back to their own creations to reinterpret them without the limitations they faced when the cars were first developed.
Giugiaro has preserved key elements of his original Gallardo design, particularly the front end, while creating an entirely new rear. Just five components carry over from the donor car: the roof, side windows, windshield, side mirrors and mirror bases. Everything else has been redesigned, including a new carbon-fiber body, pop-down headlights, active aerodynamic flaps and an opening rear window that provides access to the engine.
The chassis has also received significant attention, with new two-mode suspension offering Comfort and Sport settings, upgraded brakes and 20-inch wheels. The goal is to deliver a more refined driving experience without losing the character that made the original Gallardo a defining supercar of its generation.
Naturally aspirated V10 meets a manual transmission
Power comes from the Gallardo’s 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V10, reworked by Italtecnica. The engine now revs to 8,500 rpm and is paired with a manual transmission, preserving an increasingly rare combination in the modern supercar world.
Two configurations will be offered. The GT produces 540 horsepower, while the more aggressive Performance version increases output to 560 horsepower. Full technical specifications remain subject to change as the prototype development phase progresses.
Just 25 cars, starting at €900,000
Each HOMMAGE 26 will be built using a first-generation Gallardo supplied by its owner or sourced by CAVËN Atelier. Pricing starts at €900,000, excluding taxes and the donor vehicle.
Beyond HOMMAGE 26, buyers will also receive priority access to the next chapter of the Designer Series, which focuses on the people behind automotive icons rather than individual manufacturers or brands.
In the United States, CURATED will represent CAVËN Atelier and introduce its projects to collectors interested in historically significant automobiles.
John Temerian, CURATED co-founder, believes the project’s greatest appeal lies in its direct connection to the Gallardo’s creator. Rather than simply modifying an iconic Lamborghini, HOMMAGE 26 allows the original designer to revisit his own work and develop it further nearly 30 years later.
For Giugiaro, the project is an opportunity to evolve an existing design rather than start from scratch. While the front remains remarkably faithful to his 1998 concept, the rear and selected interior elements introduce new ideas shaped by contemporary design and technology.
With only 25 examples planned, HOMMAGE 26 offers a distinctive take on the Gallardo’s legacy: a supercar reimagined not by an aftermarket tuner, but by the designer who helped make it an icon in the first place.
