Listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, this 2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia Spider 16M represents one of the most focused and collectible open Ferraris of the modern era. Limited to just 499 examples, the 16M was created to commemorate Ferrari’s 16th Formula One World Constructors’ Championship, secured in 2008. Derived from the track-oriented F430 Scuderia, it combined substantial weight reduction, chassis revisions, carbon-fiber components, and competition-inspired technology with the freedom of an open cockpit.
At its heart is Ferrari’s naturally aspirated 4.3-liter F136 V8, upgraded with a higher compression ratio, revised intake and exhaust systems, and carbon-fiber airboxes. Factory output was rated at 503 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. Power reaches the rear wheels through a six-speed F1 automated transaxle and electronically controlled limited-slip differential, providing rapid gear changes and direct response.
The 16M goes considerably further than a conventional F430 Spider in its pursuit of performance. Lightweight bumper covers are complemented by extensive carbon-fiber components, including the front fin, headlight and mirror housings, rear grille surround, and diffuser. A stiffened chassis, retuned suspension with ZF dampers, and titanium springs further sharpen its handling characteristics. Braking is handled by Brembo carbon-ceramic rotors with red calipers, while 19-inch Scuderia alloy wheels are wrapped in Michelin tires.
This example is finished in iconic Rosso Corsa over a black Alcantara and cloth interior, with a black soft top. The cabin features carbon-fiber-framed seats, exposed diamond-plate aluminum flooring, carbon-fiber trim, drilled aluminum pedals, and a carbon-fiber steering wheel incorporating shift lights, paddles, and Ferrari’s manettino dynamic-control dial.
Additional equipment includes xenon headlights, heated mirrors, automatic climate control, a wind deflector, fire extinguisher, JBL audio, and iPod connectivity. Instrumentation centers on an 8,500-rpm tachometer and 220-mph speedometer.
