2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi spec C Type RA-R
Only produced in limited quantities for the Japanese market, the Type RA-R is a fully featured version of the 2.0 liter WRX STi spec C. It offers customers in Japan a better version of the WRX and contributes to the spec C's homlogation requirements.
Since the 'GD chassis' WRX was released in 2001, these thinly disguised race cars have been steadily revised to keep the Group N and PWRC rally cars competitive. Already featuring lighter glass, thinner roof construction, reinforced strut tower braces, a rear crossbar, aluminum trunk lid and an air-cooled engine oil cooler, the spec C is a potent package that the RA-R takes a step further.
Under the hood is a specially prepared version of Subaru's boxer with a larger turbo and better exhaust to produce 320 bhp and 318lb ft lbs of torque - the same as Subaru's ultra-limited S204.
It also comes with white 18-inch alloy wheels, a lower more stiff suspension and the RA roof spoiler, lip spoiler and optional carbon fiber rear wing. Inside, new seats and pedals are included for the driver.
A wide range of STi options are available for the RA-R, that take it from habitable to extreme. These include deep bolstered Recaro driving seats, larger anti-roll bars, beefier springs, larger brakes, sports exhaust and silver painted wheels.
300 copies will be made available exclusively to the Japanese market with a color choice of white, blue or yellow. The base cost is 4,284,000 Yen which exchanges to around $38 000 USD.
