The Ferrari 296 Speciale combines a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with an electric motor to produce 880 horsepower and 755 Nm of torque. Sending its power exclusively to the rear wheels, the Speciale also benefits from extensive weight reduction, weighing just over 1.5 tonnes. The result is a focused performance machine engineered around speed, agility, and driver involvement.
Its rival, the Lamborghini Revuelto, takes a very different approach. Beneath its dramatic bodywork sits a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 supported by three electric motors. With electric assistance powering the front axle, the Revuelto features all-wheel drive and delivers a combined 1,015 horsepower and 1,062 Nm of torque. It is substantially heavier than the Ferrari, weighing close to 1.9 tonnes.
Mat Watson puts both cars through a demanding series of tests, beginning with a standing quarter-mile drag race before moving on to rolling races from different speeds and gears. These runs showcase how the Ferrari’s turbocharged V6 hybrid system compares with Lamborghini’s high-revving V12 and multi-motor hybrid setup under different conditions.
