This 220 SE cabriolet was delivered new to Guatemala, remaining there until 1983 when it was sold to a Mr Alvaro Vilela in Portugal where it would remain until 2014. Five years later the car passed to Mr Jose Rodolfo Brandao, who kept it for the next 17 years before selling it to Dr Fernando Manuel Campos, its owner up to 2014. In 2005 the Mercedes was used on the ‘XXIV Rali Automoveis Antigos’ in Portugal.
This 220 SE has covered only 74,800 kilometres from new and retains its original interior trim, woodwork (repaired) and Becker radio, and even its original spare wheel, incredibly with the original warranty sticker still attached! Maintenance stickers in the door record services at 57,000 and 60,000 kilometres. This elegant 1960 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE Convertible is one of only 1,112 built in the model’s brief history. A multiple winner on the California Concours show circuit, it was fully restored in 2001, covering just 2,300 miles since then. All its mechanical components were overhauled, a new top and boot installed and the leather interior updated with refinished wood and chrome and new carpets.
