Re: I'LL STICK WITH MY FERRARI, THIS CAR S-U-X

1. I totally disagree with 550Barchetta, and here's 3 reasons:
1.The Lotus Esprit was, is, and always will be a kick-ass car, even if the top speed and hp doesnt live up to Ferrari standards
2.How do u think 2 of my uncles got married? They sure as hell didn't have Ferraris, thats for sure. One had a 1988 Lotus Esprit, and the other had a Esprit Sport 350(which btw, could beat a Ferrari any day)
3.I doubt u have ever driven a Ferrari, 550Barchetta. Hey, here's an idea, get a Ferrari, challenge a Lotus owner on a track, and prepare to get ur ass kicked! That's all I have to say

2. I've driven a 550. I dun really want to say it's for racing, more like touring =)
Has gobs of power to take off, but then it's equally heavy. But the engine note is pretty sweet =)
Also the 550 suffers alot from it's hight center of gravity...not good = (

Anyhow....LOTUS RULES!! Shitloads of ponies from a V8 the size of a I-4 =P

I have......my mate has a V8 SE, and that is a WEAPON!! It only runs 4lbs. boost stock which is NOTHING in reality.....he just got it boosted to 12lbs. and it can smoke them up in 4th at 70km/h (44mph)now, he could do it in 3rd when it was stock!!......I'd like to see the 360 Modena's do that!! We were hitting through hairpins at 90-100km/h (55-65mph) with no sweat...I couldn't believe the grip level in it!! Like to see a Viper or something equal go around at that speed!! A stock 12.2sec 1/4 mile time also proves it's a #$%#ing weapon. So get your facts straight the ladies who diss the Lotus, my dream car was the 911 turbo, till I went for a ride in the SE, now it's a tie between them. It's THAT GOOD!! C yas!! 5. First of all lets consider the price. Do you know one Ferrari that even goes below 100 grand today. I sure don't. This thing only costs 70 k. The cheapest Ferrari is twice that. Becides all this, it could whip all Ferrari's (Currently build) on a track. You have anything to say. I know you are probably speachless.

What else is there to say. The lack of power, speed, and all around performance attributes to its suckiness as well as cheap price. If you want a poor man's sportscar then this is your calling. However, if you are in need of real performance, speed, handeling, looks, and a car that will get you some ladies, then do not get this car. You would probably have more luck in a Ford Focus, then this car. So, I say to you today my fellow supercars fanatics, if you have no cash you get no flash, and you get a car like this, which in my words is somewhere between a corvette and a camaro with a price 2-3 times the price of each car. Basically do not buy this car, you would be better of with this liikes of a porsche 911 or even a viper, if you are the American car lover.

Moron. Ferrari is indeed #1 but do not insult the Esprit. I've been working around Ferraris and Lotuses for two years and I've seen my share of them. The Esprit, while no match for the elagance of a Ferrari, is by far one of the finest road-going sports cars in the world. It may not perform as well but they're just as rare and a good investment for buyers. How can you compare this wonderful machine to a lousy Ford Focus anyway? Get some respect man. You'll find your life will be a whole lot more enjoyable that way. You also say this is a poor man's sports car? It isn't. Mustangs, Camaros, and most Corvettes are part of the poor man's domain. This one is a true exotic. I bet you don't own a real Ferrari either; maybe one made by Matchbox. "To all those out there who want some good advice, don't listen to this guy. He obviously has no idea what he's talking about."

7. the kind of people who buy ferraris

" if you are in need of ...a car that will get you some ladies, then do not get this car. You would probably have more luck in a Ford Focus, then this car. "

Ferraris definitely are the cars to get if you want to "get some ladies." Ferraris are great cars, but just because they cost a lot doesn't make them better than everything else.

I'd rather have a 996 Turbo than the more expensive, slower 360 (less traction, less torque = slower in the real world)

"if you have no cash you get no flash"

This must be why so many 360s are sold with the F1 transmission, so you don't have to actually drive it...
Personally I like to DRIVE cars not just LOOK COOL in them, so the flashy yellow car with an automatic appals me. Give me a black or silver car with a 6-speed.

It's amazing how people can drop hundreds of thousands of dollars just because they want attention.

8. Lol..good point Sandman.
I enjoy driving for the pure passion of it..not to look good or pick up chicks. To do that would definitely spell LOSER!! Just to get a gurl you have to flash your cash =P

10. Old is good.
It's more refined, classic, with a unique history.
What do you want them to do...something like Lambo from Diablo to Murcielago?....
not really possible..and no need. Lotus is bout what's underneath the body. Hell think of Lotus as the sleepers for supercars.
Plus, I dun think Lotus has financial backing to come out with a completely new line anywayz.

11. Damn I hate those people who think Ferrari makes the best cars in the world. There are more cars than just Ferrari out there...

12. Ok you guys obviously dont know your cars.... I am 15 years old here and my dad let me take out his ferarri 360 modena (its yellow by the way) and it was pretty nice, it has instant throttle response and all that nice stuff but its way overpriced, ok he paid $185,000 for it and im gonna tell you that if i had that much money to spend on a car then i would just go for the 2002 porsche 911 GT2 but since my dad isnt giving me that much money i was looking more into the Lotus Esprit and he actually rented one from this website and he rented it out for me as a welcome back present from boarding school in brazil. Ok, heres the story...i was out late one night with the rented car, my friends and i were drinking at a bar and we decided to go home. I wasnt drunk but i was a little woozy but i started swerving all around the raod and my friend that was following us said that i was driving like a maniac but after driving around for about an hour and a half i started feeling like i was alive again. I had pulled up to a honda civic with stickers on the side...it looked like he was sponsered by GReddy which is a high performance team that drag races for lots of money. But anyway, he revvs real high... then we both take off he starts to gain on me then pulls in front of me. HOLY SH**, he all of the sudden looses control and i dont know what to do(i am going about 150 MPH now) i did what i thought to be was a stupid move, and it would havebeen if i were driving my dads Ferarri but i turn as fast as i can(let me remind you that i am on a two lane road) but his car looses control and almost hits me i turned again really hard and he hits me. I swear i thought i saw my whole life flash right in front of me i skid almost hitting a gaurdrail, and then i suddenly have total control again....

Lotus is a Terrific car and that 2000 Esprit did its job...
After that happened i pulled over and asked if he was ok...he was. thewhole front end of his car was smashed in and he was soon taken off the sponsership because of what he did. That Lotus saved my life. I think that rich teens like me should have them because for one we can afford them and two because they are a hella lot safer then any car that i have ever ridden in besides this one hummer but thats besides the point

Thank You Lotus for saving my friends and my life....

13. lotus makes great cars and that can not b argued with. their concept is building lightweight cars(better handling and braking and need less hp) and this is the concept behind all race cars. as some of us know, lotus' are meant to b driven on tracks. they begg for it. that cant b done wit ha ferrari too much since the engines are so sensitive and are such high maintenance powerplants. ask every ferrari person and theyll tell u they get a rebuild every 20-30 k. all that sayed, i have to admit that i personally dont like this car much, cause its too heavy for a lotus. as for the esprit, now thats a true lotus. ive heard of ppl turbochargin the original powerplant, which would classify it as a true supercar, since it handles waaayyy better than many cars costing many many times more, and with the addition of a turbo the car could surely outaccelerate some serious performance cars. overall, lotus' are made as dualpurpose cars(track, and road use) where a ferrari is more of a showoff car with the looks to kill. but thenagain, u can get much cheaper cars, and spend the leftover money on them to make them better track cars than most lotus'. like i always say, its a preference and budget thing.

14. Hehe..coolz =)
Some people actually agree with me =)
Lotus makes kickass cars eh? I usually race one with a friend of mine @ nite. Kicks the shit outta all the other cars, but has a bit of trouble against Porsches, but I don't blame it =P
We're running @ nearly 1/2 price =P
And no mods either. Stock Esprit =)

And yep, I too have almost got wrecked by another car who lost control, but thanx to Lotus's lightweight, handling and proper amount of power, I did a swerve that I would never ever attempt in anything else cept a S4 or WRX =)

16. I saw one in real life, its way smaller than it looks. Its looks are sort of modest but it just looks so great all the way around, you'll never think its over done or under done-- its just right.

17. Hehehe =)
I so agree with S19..The pic looks big, but inreality, these cars are quite tiny =)
I'd saw just a lil longer than the 360 I think =)

Hmmm..and good ideaa Mr.Barchetta =) Get a Lotus in a garage and take for spin =) Weeeeeeeeee!! I love them with a passion =)
Especially the funky sound of an extremely small block V8..hehe..a freaking 3.5L with 2 turbos screaming with it =)

As for the Azn ladies...well come on..dun tell me Azn gurls are cute or hot? The silky black hair, contoured figure...subtle yet nice boobs =) Beautiful smile and personality =) So sweet =)
oh..and btw..yes..they are very flexible =P

18. I think this car does look very very nice, but it does need a bit more of a dramatic styling change. It looks very much like a mid-early 90's car to me now. If Porsche can keep the 911 fresh after 37 years, then Lotus can do the same. Not coming out with a more sweeping change could be a product of their financial woes a few years ago...
And they really do need to put it on a diet. (??Is the 350 sport a special lightweight model??) I think Colin Chapman would be appalled at a NEAR 3000lb Lotus, no matter what the BHP.
Lotus still makes the best chassis on the planet. This has been acknowledged by GM and Porsche, both who hired Lotus Engineering to consult...

Both the 360 and 355 demolish the Esprit.

The 360 is lighter than the 355.

This particular Esprit is NOT turboed.

etc......

22. This is a real funny post.
1. You do not own a Ferrari 550.
2. Lotus has always had their own original style.
3. V-8 Twin Turbo, hp/lbs
4. I once and a while see a lotus on the road, I've seen atleast 5x more ferrari's on the road.

23. Scuderium...ummmm...if you didn't know, the 355 is considered the better performing of the two between 360 and 355, even though it has less HP!

2nd....the 360 is still considerable heavier than a Lotus Esprit...and this one is TURBOED!! Please do read the details, you sounds like a fool if you don't.

3rd..out of all the Ferraris I've raced against in the Esprit, they lost, mainly on cornering and Acceleration!!
Thet got good HP, but their torque is considerably lower.

Have to agree with some of you. Esprit is a great car and has provin its worthiness for years. Sure its not the fastest on the planet but bang for buck its great. Viper, Vette, NSX and Porsche might be able to out perform it but how many times are you graced by one on the road. Its quite a site to see one! I have been lucky enough to drive about 6 Esprits from old 1988's to a 1997 V8 and they are all fun cars. They have a personality all their own that cant be said about alot of manufactures nowadays. Since we discussed Ferrari's in comparison, let me say the Lotus is $85k new and a 360 hase been seen anywhere from $150-300k depending whos trying to rip you off. Not bad numbers for a car almost half the price of its competition. It has nothing to prove in my opinion, it has been around kicking ass for a number of years(even doing this a 4 banger)

Lotus 4 ever
