Fulfilling plans set two years ago when it entered the American Le Mans Series, Acura Motorsports announced that will move to LMP1 in the 2009 American Le Mans Series. De Ferran Motorsports and PatrĂ³n Highcroft Racing each will field prototypes in the Series' highest classification starting with the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March.

In 2008, Acura debuted the second evolution of its LMP2 racecar at the Sebring 12 hours. Of the three cars prepared for the season, the Patron Highcroft Acura is fastest. It s joined by a XM Satellite Radio AGR car and a Lowe's Fernandez Racing car.
