1956 Ferrari 250 GT Boano/Ellena Coupe
As an updated version of the 250 Europa GT, Ferrari's 1956 touring coupe was in many ways a detuned version of their sucessful 250 GT Tour de France race car.
After the 250 Europa GT ceased production, Pinin Farina worked hard to reshape its form. Eventually, after eight prototypes, some having aluminum bodies, the Coupe was ready. When it was put into production, Pinin Farina was too busy to make his own design, so instead the bodies were fabricated by Boano. At some point Boano's facility changed owner ship hence the later cars are known as 250 Ellena Coupes.
After about 140 cars were made, Pinin Farina had the necessary resources to go into larger scale production and the 250 GT Coupe, which replaced this mode, was put into series production.
