1894 Peugeot Vis-a-vis
Won the first automobile competition in the world:This car, a Peugeot, was fitted with a Daimler engine manufactured under licence by Panhard-Levassor. The two French automobile pioneers had obtained this licence from Daimler early on. Although not a racing car in the modern sense of the word (i.e. it had not been designed exclusively for racing purposes), this car is one of the ancestors of competition vehicles.
