2.2-litre (1969–1971)
The Porsche 911 C series was introduced in August 1969 and featured an enlarged 2.2-litre engine. Porsche improved the engines by increasing displacement to 2.2 liters and power increasing across the range. The Porsche 911T saw power reach 123 hp) while the 911E got 153 hp. The top of the range 911S was a strong 180hp. Power isn’t everything of course with performance close across all models. The decision was also made to increase the wheelbase of the 911 because of the 911’s instability when running wide open at full throttle. Fuel injection was introduced to the 911S and a new mid-level Porsche 911 was introduced.
