The Volkswagen GTI just got a stylish new rival in the hot hatch segment… from Kia.

With all the stylish good looks anyone could ask for, the oddly named 5-door cee’d and 3-door pro_cee’d models available in Europe will now get a hotter “GT” version with a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder under the hood making 201 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the sprint to 62 mph will take a modest 7.9 seconds.

But that’s not all. Both GT models will also gain dual exhaust pipes, 18-inch wheels, red bake calipers and Recaro seats.

Set to debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Kia has not yet said if the ceee’d GT or pro_cee’d GT will be offered in North America.

damn, i was gonna post this.

it's pretty good looking.

acceleration times seems a tad slow for something like that but if it's priced fairly and not GTi price, it's damn attractive.

I really like the Veloster right now. Looks so good.

I'm so glad I've met Bui in person, otherwise I'd be really worried about him.

Kia Shows Cee'd GT And Pro_cee'd GT Ahead Of Geneva Debut

Kia pro_cee'd GT and cee'd GT to debut at 2013 Geneva Motor Show
Most performance-focused Kia models yet
204 PS and 265 Nm from turbocharged 1.6-litre engine
Designed and to be manufactured in Europe

The new Kia pro_cee'd GT and cee'd GT – the brand's most performance-focused production cars ever – will enjoy their world premieres at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show on 5 March.

Designed in Europe under the direction of President and Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, the two debutants feature bold athletic styling, distinctive LED daytime running lights, dual-exhaust pipes, Recaro seating, 18-inch alloy wheels and eye-catching red brake calipers.

The new turbocharged 1.6-litre GDI petrol engine will produce 204 PS (201 bhp) and 265 Nm (195lb/ft), powering the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and allowing the Kia pro_cee'd GT and cee'd GT to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 7.9 seconds.

Production of the newest members of the latest generation cee'd family is scheduled to start at Kia's Žilina plant in Slovakia in mid-May. The pro_cee'd GT is anticipated to go sale in the UK from the middle of the year and be joined by its cee'd GT counterpart towards the end of 2013.

Prices and specifications will be confirmed closer to the on-sale dates.

DUAL EXHAUST PIPES!

Looks pretty nice, but definitely not in the GTI's league.

You can't beat me!

Agreed but I think it combines the best parts of all of those lookswise.

Kia would be good choices if they were actually cheap but they are not. I bet it will be priced less than 1k under any rivals so what's the point.

I really don't like the profile.
I used to bench press sets of 47.5kg dumbells and 130kg+ straight bar when i was at the gym. There were plenty of muscles.
China gets massive negative media attention because stuff really is that shitty over there. Sure places like Tokyo are first rate but the rest of the country isn't.
I don't appreciate threats, nor do I like being called a nigger.
