  1. why produce this and not gt-90??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  2. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

    because the gt90 is uglier...
it looks exacly like the older version... i like it but not worth reviving. FORD...spend alll of that money to improve your current line of vehicles...

  3. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

Yeah he is right man... Ford should really spend the money that it would cost to put that into production on the cars they already have, cause I think they are running out of ideas and funds.

Ford is running out of money, which is why the produce this and no the GT-90. The GT-90 was based on their F-1 technology, F-1 engine, suspension, areodynamic, all of this isn't made to cheaply (or road legaly), and then they couldn't sell it at a resanoble price.

  6. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

    No F1 car has ever used a 5.9L wuad turbo V12. There's a displacement limit of 3L in F1.

  7. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

Wrong. The GT90 was made as a modern reproduction of the GT40 Le Mans winning race car. Not there F1 cars. And they were planning on producing and selling it for $800,000 and it is street legal. And no Ford is not running out of money. They are the second largest industrial corporation in the world right now. They made $162,000,000,000 last year.

  8. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

Alright my bad. Ford isn't going broke (although sales are down)
And I'm damn sure I read somewhare that a lot of the GT90 was based on somesort of F1 standard. evidently not the enginge, however parts of it, such as turbos could have been derived from Ford's racing department. Vehicle improvment is the main excuse for companys to go racing.
But hey thanks for getting my facts staright. <A BORDER="0" HREF="http://www.supercars.net/emoticons.html"><IMG BORDER="0" SRC="http://speed.supercars.net/cboardhtml/emoticons/smile.gif"></A>

in granturismo 2(wich i completed 100%) says that it used some parts from the jaguar xj220

  10. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

First Ford never had plans to produce it but they spread the rumor to create interest. They were simply testing new technologies like welding two engines together. That technology is now seen on there V12 aston martins and jags. It was to also bring there performance division in to the modern world. Concept cars usually have way out designs and every high tech gizmo there is. Some times concept cars do go into production however for a main stream car company it would be a waste of money. Hell even the Ford GT is a waste of money great car though no insult intended. They simply do not want to build cars that they wont make a lot of money on. At that price they are not sure if it will sell but sometimes car companies need to do this to bring the name up. Or in Fords case back up to what it was in the 60's thats performance. They almost did not build the t bird for not seeing a big market for it. That was the 50's and they saw no market for it on the other hand chevy had the corvette. It only sold about 300 cars in its first year,it was heading for the chopping grounds. Ford saved it since a Ford exec saw the corvette and said we need something like that. The Head of Ford said i allready have something, He was its biggest enamy. When the exec said that he became its biggest supporter. So in the end once they released the Ford the head of GM said we cant get rid of the Corvette now Ford has compitition for it. The Corvette eventually won and the Tbird got bigger.

  11. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

The fact: Ford is going to produce the GT first. If the GT can manage and do well in sales, ford may CONSIDER the GT-90, but they still may not make it. The gt-90 has much more work to be done.

  12. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

I doubt the GT90 will be produced but i love it. Mayb if GM puts the Caddy sixteen on the market, then Ford will sell the GT90.

  13. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

yes they may be making a version of this with ford new 6.4 V10 that would leave room for a Mustang to fight the vettes.

  14. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

Because this would actually run after 10,000km.

  15. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

come on if you think that the gt-90 even compares with the gt (gt-40)there is something wrong with you the gt-40 is a classic to the bone it is a sports car that has something more. the gt-90 was a total failiure if you take a look at it, it looks as if smbody just chopped the ends of and then squished it, don't get me wrong maybe it went pretty good but it looked DISGUSTING

  16. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

PEOPLE PEOPLE, get your facts straight. The GT90 was an example of the technology automotive companies are capable of. It costs like $790,000 to make. NOBODY is gonna buy that. The Ford GT will also handle better I assume because it's a diehard racecar and very simple. Ford isnt really losing too much money but sales were down (as were sales with Chevy, and Dodge). This was produced in the time that I think his name was Jack Nassar was CEO or somethin of Ford. He was actually doing a not-so-good job as CEO of Ford. Then good ol' Bill Ford (grand-nephew of Henry Ford) came in and turned what was a loss of money in the hundreds of millions to a loss of around 20 or 50 million dollars. He basically sorta saved the company. Plus Password was atually right, the Ford GT WOULD outlast the GT90 in terms of durability.

  17. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

They didn't produce the GT90 for the one reason that it would cost so much to do it and it had no looks like the classic Ford GTs. These new ones look a whole lot better and give a better complement to the old GT40s. This is the first time a company remade a classic the right way, just make it like the older one just make it road legal.

  18. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

Yeah. Plus modifying the engine could be extremely dangerous seeing as how the engined bay needed ceramic tiles to prevent the extreme heat from reaching the driver.

  19. Re: they produce this but not gt-90???????

Yea this engine definatly isnt one to be toyed with. A big V12 Quad turbo going to be putting out some power as it is.
